1. Who we are
Cabo is a trading name of [legal entity name] ("Cabo", "we", "us"), a booking agent registered in England & Wales, not a licensed taxi operator. We arrange fixed-price taxi and airport transfer journeys through the Cabo app, which are carried out by local licensed private-hire operators. For data protection purposes, [legal entity name] is the data controller. Contact us at hello@caboapp.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
When you create an account, book a journey, or contact us, we may collect:
- Name, email address and phone number
- Pickup and drop-off addresses and journey history
- Flight number and travel details
- Payment information, processed securely by our payment provider. We never store full card details.
- Device information: model, operating system, app version and a device identifier used for push notifications
- Communication records: in-app chat, emails and any calls
- Usage data about how you use the app and website, for analytics and to fix problems
3. Location data
With your permission, the app uses your device location to suggest your pickup point and to show your driver approaching. Location is collected only while you are using the app, never in the background, and you can turn it off in your device settings at any time. Bookings still work if you type your address instead.
Driver location is shared with you during your journey so you can see where your car is. It is not retained beyond what is needed to complete and support the booking.
4. Why we use it
We process your personal data to:
- Fulfil your booking and provide the transfer service
- Track your flight and notify your driver of delays
- Send booking confirmations, driver details, receipts and service messages
- Handle changes, cancellations, refunds and complaints
- Prevent fraud and keep the platform secure
- Comply with licensing, insurance and regulatory requirements
- Improve the app and our service through analytics
Our lawful bases are contract performance (your booking), legitimate interests (service improvement, fraud prevention and security), legal obligation (record keeping), and consent where we ask for it, such as device location and marketing messages.
5. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Booking and payment records | 7 years, to meet financial and regulatory requirements |
| Account details | For as long as your account is open, then deleted within 90 days of closure |
| Communication records | 2 years |
| Location data | Only for the duration of the booking it relates to |
| Analytics data | 13 months |
We delete or anonymise personal data promptly once its retention purpose has expired.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with:
- Your assigned driver and their operator: your name, pickup and drop-off addresses, flight details and contact number, to carry out the journey
- Payment processors: to take payment securely
- Booking and dispatch software providers: to manage reservations and driver allocation
- Flight-data and mapping providers: to track flights and calculate routes
- Push notification and email services: to send you booking updates
- Regulators or the police: where required by law, for example licensing authority audits
Every processor is bound by a data processing agreement that meets UK GDPR requirements. Where a provider is outside the UK, transfers are protected by adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Object to or restrict processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@caboapp.co.uk with the subject "Data Request", or use the delete account option in the app. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
8. Cookies & analytics
Our website uses essential cookies to function and, only with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics data is anonymised where possible. You can change your choice at any time in your browser settings. The app uses similar anonymised analytics to measure crashes and performance.
9. Notifications
We send service notifications about your bookings, such as driver assigned, driver arriving and receipts, by push notification, email or SMS. These are part of the service you booked. Marketing messages are sent only if you opt in, and every one includes a way to opt out.
10. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), encrypted storage of sensitive fields, access controls and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take all commercially reasonable steps to protect your information.
11. Children
The Cabo app is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Bookings that include children are made and managed by the adult account holder.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this address. Material changes are announced in the app and by email where we hold your contact details.
